1-4pm Beginner Watercolor w/Lynda Burruss

October 28, 2021 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM

 

For this beginning watercolor class, we will cover many topics

  1. Preparing your paper, kinds of paper, brands, cold press vs. hot press, yupo
  2. Primary, secondary, tertiary colors, complimentary colors
  3. Mixing colors

     

    Paint your own color wheel

  4. Terminology: Value scale, hue, local color, warm & cool
  5. Techniques: such as wet on wet, dry brush, wet on dry
  6. Brush techniques
  7. Paints, brushes and palettes
  8. Practice sample techniques

     

    Paint your own reference sample sheet

  9. Texture techniques (Saran wrap, bubble wrap, salt, tissues
  10. Paint some petals, circles and leaves after demo
  11. Copy the pattern given on your own watercolor paper. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Pick your color choices for the sample painting you have selected to paint today. Fill in the outlined spaces with at least 4 of the techniques you have learned today. Be prepared to explain your color choices and techniques for show and tell.

Lynda Burruss is a Signature Member of AZ Watercolor Association, AZ Art Alliance, UT Watercolor Society, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies (The best of 11 western states) and Contemporary Watercolorists of AZ (only 40 joined members).  She has also shown at the National Watercolor Society in CA.
